FIRST DIALYSIS TRAINING AT HOTC

Human Organ Transplant Center (HOTC) organized the first basic haemodialysis training for nurses and paramedics, taking place at the HOTC premesis. The three month long traning was started on the 7th Jestha 2071 (May 21st 2014) with the participation of 19 staff nurses from different governmental and non-governmental hospitals. The training will be useful to expand and improve dialysis services throughout Nepal. It will be extremely beneficial for renal failure patients since services will be available close by at affordable costs.

Health personnel including doctors, senior nursing staff, and technicians were involved in teaching. The classes had both lectures and practical sessions. There were clases run by guest lectures such as infection control by Prof. Bharat Mani Pokhrel and waste management by Tumsa Shrestha. The certificate ceremony was organized in the presence of Chief guest Dr. Serendra Upreti (Director General, Department of Health Sciences) and attended by Dr. Pukar Chandra Shrestha (Executive Director, HOTC), Dr. Kalpana Shrestha (Consultant Nephrologist, HOTC) and Mrs. Indira Pradhan (Nursing Director, HOTC)
