HEALTH MINISTER'S TEAM DEFEATED BY 4-0

14th April, 2014, Butwal, 5th Nepal  Transplant Games was held in Butwal, Rupandehi on the occasion of New Year's Day, 2071. Aarogya Foundation, Lalitpur and Human Organ Transplant Center, Bhaktapur organize this event every year on the 1st day of Nepali new year. Lions club of Butwal Tilottama, Lions club of Tilottama Mayadevi and Leo club of Tilottama Mayadeve were local organizers.

The program was attended by the Chief guest, Minister for Health and Population Khaga Raj Adhikari, Guest of Honor, Chief Secretary of Nepal government, Mr. Lila Mani Paudel, special guests President of Aarogya foundation, Ani Choying Drolma, 'MaHa' jodi , senior clinicians and other guests from Australia, UK ,and from all over the country.

Main attraction of the event was the friendly football match in which team comprising transplantees defeated the Health Minister's team by 4-0. The health minister's team was comprised of Chief Secretary of Nepal government, clinicians from Nepal and abroad, Artists, human right acitvists, journalists and social workers.

The other events of the games were 100 m, 200m, 400 m races among transplantees and organ donors.

On the occasion, Chief guest, Minister for Health and Population Mr. Khaga Raj Adhikari declared to donate their kidneys after brain death and promised to bring concrete program on the prevetion of kidney diseases soon. Chief secretary Mr. Lila Mani Paudel stressed on the need to spread such awareness programs throughout the country. Artists Ani and 'MaHa' pair highlighted the importance of awareness campaign in prevention from kidney diseases, promote organ donation and transplantation in the country.

The Executive Director of Human Organ Transplant center and General Secretary of Aarogya Foundation Dr. Pukar Shrestha reiterated that the Transplant Games are the best opportunities to prove that transplantees are equally fit and active like any other healthy personnel and can be equally useful to the society and country.

The objective of organizing transplant games is to create awareness on prevention of organ failure, promotion of organ donation and transplantation.

The local organizing committee had orgnized grand transplant rally on the eve of new year which proceeded through the beautiful streets of Butwal city.
