Dharan, April 13

Seventh Nepal Transplant Games was organized in Dharan on the occasion of Nepali new year 2073 (on April 13, 2016). The organ transplantees and donors took part in 100 metre, 200 metre and 400 metre races in male and female disciplines. The most attractive part of the game was friendly football match between transplantees Vs Doctors, Nurses, Journalists, Lawyers, Social Workers and Business community. Transplantees’ team won the match 5-2 which is highest score by the transplantees’ team in seventh years’ history of the game. This has strongly given that message that Transplantees are equally fit and healthy like any other people in the community and are capable to take any responsibility for the community and country provided they are given a suitable assignment.

The game was participated by 150 trasplantees and organ donors and similar number of doctors, nurses, social workers and journalists.

Doctors and Social workers’ team was led by Vice Chancellor of BPK Insittute of Health Sciences Dr. B P Das whereas Transplantees’ team was led by Som Bahadur Thapa who is the secretary at the Public Account committee of the Parliament.

National football coach Raju Shakya, Former chief Secretary of Nepal government Lila Mani Paudel, former president of FNCCI Kush Kumar Joshi, Transplant Surgeon Dr. Pukar Shrestha, Senior Urologist Dr. Rakesh Verma and Senior Gastroenterologist Dr. Neeraj Joshi were among the team members in the Doctors’ football team.

Executive Director of Human Organ Transplant Center (HOTC) Dr. Shrestha highlighted on the importance of the such events to create awareness and promote organ donation and transplantation to lead healthy fit and productive life which will be beneficial to the family, community and the nation. VC Dr. Das was the chief guest of the award ceremony which was chaired by Mr. Kush Kumar Joshi. Dr. Sanjeev Sharma from BPKIHS was the convenor the event.

The program was jointly organized by Human Organ Transplant Center (HOTC), Bhaktapur, Aarogya Foundation, Pulchowk Lalitpur and BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan. FNCCI Sunsari, Rotary club of Dharan, Rotary Club of Ghopa, Dharan; Lions club of Dharan, Student community of BPKIHS and Dharan Municapality, Rotaract club of Dharan, Rotaract Club of Ghopa, Dharan were co-organisers of the event.
