In Kageshwari Manohara Municipality, 42 people have announced organ donation after death

In the program organized by Nepal Red Cross society Kageshwari manohara sub branch with the technical support from Shahid Dharmabhakta National Transplant center, Bhaktapur Kageshwari Manohara Municipality Mayor Mr. Upendra Karki ,Deputy Mayor Shanta Thapa including a total of 65 people have announced to donate their organs after death. Mayor Karki said that if the various parts of his body are used after death, donating them will be a work of altruism.

Dr.Pukar Chandra Shrestha,Executive Director Of Shahid Dharmabhakta National Transplant Center,Bhaktapur  committed to run the organ donation campaign nationally in collaboration with Nepal Red Cross Society.Dr.Shrestha  informed that a total  of 8 organs including 2 kidneys, 2 lungs,liver, heart,pancreas and small intestine can be donated from the deceased person in Nepal.He requested everyone to declare organ donation after death .

Dr.Shrestha  said that this national transplant center has already  collaborated with Tarakeshwar Municipality and Dhulikhel Municipality and said that today he is very happy to co-operate with Kageshwari Manohara Municipality..He said that he is preparing to collaborate with local levels across the country in the coming days.

Nepal Red Cross Society, Kageshwari Manohara sub branch President Mr. Vasudev Poudel also requested to be an organ donor as organ donation after death is a good,positive and religious act for everyone.

Local Durga Dhakal expressed her happiness that she was unable to fulfill her wish to donate organs from 30 years ago.She recalled that 10 years ago,when her husband died suddenly while visiting Germany,she donated various organs of her husband in Germany.She claims that this is a charitable act as organ donation after death can save the lives of many people.
