INTERACTION PROGRAM WITH GEFONT MEMBERS

HOTC organized an interaction program with GEFONT (General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions) members on 8th July, 2016. The program was targeted to disseminate the awareness on prevalence of Kidney disease and criteria for organ donation and transplantation in Nepal. The program was conducted with the initiative of Ms. Binda Pandey, former Chairperson of the Fundamental Rights & Directive Principle Committee of the Constituent Assembly of Nepal. Ms. Pandey, Local activist and educator, played significant role in formulation and development of current act (2072) on Human organ donation and transplantation.

Dr. Pukar Chandra Shrestha (Executive Director) gave presentation on the amendment of Transplant Act 2072 which included the brain death donation, pair exchange and a wide expansion of list of live organ donor pool. The program was very interactive and succeeded in raising awareness among participants about the prevalence of kidney failure and organ donation criteria in Nepal.
