Kidney transplant for the first time in Karnali Pradesh Hospital
For the first time in western Nepal ,a successful kidney transplant has been done at Karnali Pradesh Hospital Surkhet. a 22 year old youth from Nawalparasi was transplanted with the kidney in collaboration with Shahid Dharmabhakta National Transplant Center. The young man was given a kidney by his 43 year old mother.
The kidney transplantation was done under the leadership of Dr.Pukar Chandra Shrestha, Executive Director of National transplant Center & Dr. Dambar Khadka ,Director of Karnali Pradesh Surkhet Hospital.Dr.Shrestha said that kidney transplants will be done in Karnali for the next one year under the direct supervision of the doctors of the National Transplant Center.He also added that the management , medical team and modernized OT theatre of Karnali Pradesh Hospital were excellent and play a very important role in the successful renal transplantation.
An agreement was done between Shahid Dharmabhakta national transplant center and Karnali Pradesh Hospital in the last year for the renal transplant.
