KIDNEY TRANSPLANTS ARE GAINING MOMENTUM IN GOVERNMENT HOSPITALS

Kidney transplant services have started to accelerate in government hospitals outside the valley.Two people underwent kidney transplant on the same day at Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences, Western Regional Hospital on Saturday. Under the leadership of Chief Transplant surgeon and Executive Director of this institute, Dr.Pukar Chandra Shrestha, two people were transplanted on the same day. A team of doctors and other health workers from Shahid Dharmabhakta National Transplant Center, Bhaktapur and Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences, Western Regional Hospital helped in the transplant. As the part of the program to expand transplant services in all seven provinces, kidney transplant has started last month at the Pokhara Academy of Health sciences for the first time in the country .The Vice-Chancellor Of Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences Dr.Duk Bahadur Chhetri  and Director Mr.Bharat Khatri expressed their happiness that the transplant service continued. The government has put forward a plan to expand kidney transplant services in all the seven provinces of the country.
