Human Organ Transplant Center (HOTC) in collaboration with Jomsom District Hospital and Aarogya Foundation organized a free health camp on Kartik 2 and 3 in Jomsom Bazar. A complete team of specialist from HOTC and Arogya Foundation provided free services to the local people around Jomsom. The team includes Dr.Pukar Chandra Shrestha(Executive Director), Dr. Kalpana Shrestha(Consultatant Nephrologist), Dr. Lusan Singh (Nephrologist), Dr. BijayKatwal (Urologist), Dr. Sanjay shrestha (Consultant Cardiologist), Dr. Gehnath Baral (gynaecologist), Dr. Ritu Baral (Pathologist), Dr. Birendra Chand (Radiologist), Mrs.Indira Pradhan (Nursing Director), Mr. Balkrishna Awal (Microbiologist) and Mrs. Merina Rana (OT incharge).
Free health camp was targeted to local people from Jomson and nearby villages and was facilitated with the free services like urine test, pap smear test, ECG, Ultrasound etc. Medicines worth Rs. 5 lakhs was distributed freely on the day. Altogether 700 people benefitted from the camp and nearly 20% were found having kidney related problems.
The camp concluded with an interaction program focusing on organ donation and prevention from organ failure mainly kidney including awareness campaign about diabetes, hypertension, heart disease and gynaecological conditions. The camp was attended by local authorities including member of parliament, CDO, district officers, political party leaders and intellectuals.
